Event Finaal disseminatie-event Best Practice Hens
Op woensdag 3 mei wordt in Brussel een finaal disseminatie-event gehouden rond het Europese Best Practice Hens-project. Dit is een Europees pilootproject waarbij de beste praktijken rond het houden van poeljen en leghennen in niet-kooisystemen werden verzameld en verspreid. Tijdens dit finale disseminatie-event op woensdag 3 mei in Brussel worden de resultaten, verzameld in de afgelopen 2 jaar, voorgesteld.
Dit pilootproject vindt zijn oorsprong in de verbintenis van de Commissie om een voorstel te doen rond wetgeving omtrent het uitfaseren van kooihuisvesting voor hennen (en andere diersoorten) en dit naar aanleiding van het Europees Burgerinitiatief 'End the Cage Age'. Het project wil Europese pluimveeproducenten ondersteunen in hun eventuele omschakeling van kooisystemen naar alternatieve huisvestingssystemen en wil hen praktische richtlijnen en aanbevelingen (o.a. rond economische aspecten) bezorgen.
