Corporate news Rebalancing agriculture and environment in the Fertile Delta

Climate change will cause food production in southern EU member states to be compromised by water scarcity, drought and crop failures. Flanders and the Netherlands located in the "fertile delta" have important assets to further ensure food production.

Boerenbond and the Dutch agricultural organization LTO commissioned ILVO and think tank Clingendael to carry out a study on the impact of European policies on the fertile delta. Boerenbond formulates some recommendations to European policymakers at the first plenary session of the European Parliament to ensure strategic food security and to fully exploit the potential of the fertile delta.

The report highlights the future importance of the food production region in northwest Europe, including the Netherlands and Flanders.
