General introduction

How can we usefully use the developed dynamics and experience within 15 ERA Networks and within a range of other EU networking initiatives in agri-food and biotechnology to make further funding of transnational cooperation projects as targeted as possible? That is one of the research questions within this Green ERA HUB network project. A second aim is to detect common research and innovation priorities, and to facilitate new relevant Horizon Europe partnerships and missions.

Research approach

There are 8 work packages:

1. Coordination and management
2. Strategic roadmapping: needs for joint research and other activities
3. Future funding: definition and implementation of transnational calls for research proposals
4. Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment
5. Knowledge transfer of best practices for transnational cooperation
6. Widening and global outreach: global interconnection
7. Joint activities - capacity building: involvement of young researchers
8. Communication and dissemination, led by ILVO

Relevance/Valorization

Using a helicopter view, this type of Green ERA HUB project helps to maintain and share existing best practices and management skills for future partners and projects. Through the joint activities we increase the likelihood of valorization of results. The agri-food sector strongly relates to major societal challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. These challenges still require much transnational research and system innovation. The best approaches and methodologies are needed for this necessary transition. The GEH consortium with its specifically chosen partners is expected to realize the necessary transnational collaboration in themes such as agri-food and biotechnology.
