Based on the 'Farmers of the future' report, an exploratory study of agriculture in Europe that outlines 12 different farmer profiles in 2040, the LABO RUIMTE Boerenland [Lab space for farmer country] explores the spatial dimension of (future) agricultural developments in two case areas: the Leie river valley and the North Kempen.

We combine state-of-the-art big data and data-space technologies (BDVA/IDSA/GAIA-X) with agricultural knowledge, new business models and agri-environment policies. We leverage existing platforms and edge computing. We introduce novel concepts, methods, tools, pilots and engagement campaigns to go beyond today’s state of the art.

That is the key question in the AgriDataSpace project. Huge amounts of data from multiple sources in agri-food, as well as data generated in the context of policy implementations, have the potential to create additional services for farmers by assisting them in their decision-making processes and help to benchmark against their competitors.
