Our approach

Our approach is in line with the framework provided by the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL). ENoLL defines a Living Lab as an organization that focuses on user driven innovation. This means that we anticipate the practical needs of end users of technology such as farmers, contractors andfood processing companies.

Optimizing calf health through a systematic approach and correct use of resources/tools

Also, the average calving age of heifers in Flanders is still above the target of 24 months.This project aims to improve the health of the calves by developing a preventive approach in the rearing of young cattle on Flemish dairy farms. Three goals are combined: less illness and mortality, lower drug consumption and better growth.

This technology will enable the farmer or contractor to use the right products, at the right rate, in the right places, with efficient disease and weed control as a result. How does it work? We install cameras on the sprayer booms of contractors and farmers who are involved in the project to test our technology in practice.
