Protein extraction from lucerne and clover for broiler and pig feed

Once the protocol is ready, we will determine the feed value of this protein for fattening pigs and for chickens. We investigate how the technique could be rolled out on an industrial scale, and which business model and chain could emerge around this local protein stream for feed applications.

Insect meal and whey powder: new potential protein sources for 100% organic layer feed

Main research questionTwo potential sources of protein for feed in the organic poultry sector, insect meal and milk whey powder, are currently underutilized. This project evaluates their potential. Starting on January 1, 2022, organic livestock are now subject to stricter feed standards. A full 30% of the raw materials must be of regional origin.

Toward a farm-economic and environmental win-win by more efficient feed use in pig farming

The goal of this project was to map all factors which may affect the feed conversion ratio and to identify the critical factors. We aimed for a standardized calculation of the feed conversion ratio since it is calculated in different ways on different farms. We investigated whether we could accurately predict the nutritional value with laboratory analyzes
