Research project EU ADVISORY NETworks to reduce the use and risks of PESTicides.
General introduction
How can Europe reduce the use and risks of pesticides and promote the adoption of innovative practices in this sector? The answer from the AdvisoryNetPEST project is to create an ambitious knowledge network for professional advice throughout the EU. That network aims at a strong connection between (existing) advisors and between AKIS, being the agricultural knowledge and innovation system. The new EU network of advisors/AKIS covers 27 EU member states and the United Kingdom.
Research approach
Within the advisory network we identify and select new practices for reducing pesticide use and risks and adapt them locally across the EU. We will organize knowledge exchange and training for advisors and students to promote the adoption of new practices on a larger scale. There will be demonstration events with a smart link to other national and EU projects, initiatives and initiatives of policy makers and of the whole value chain.
Relevance/Valorization
The EU Farm to Fork strategy, which is at the heart of the European Green Deal, aims to make food systems fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly. To achieve the objectives of the Farm to Fork strategy, the Commission proposed, among others, targets to reduce the use and risks of pesticides. This project aims to respond this objective by setting up the advisory network on the reduced use and risks of pesticides, by exchanging and adapting novel approaches.
