General introduction
The CEADS initiative (Common European Agricultural Data Space) aims to create a trusted European data space for the agrifood sector. A data space is a set of agreements and technologies that enable partners to share data securely and transparently. Building on the AgriDataSpace blueprint, CEADS will integrate diverse data sources, technical infrastructures, and organizational frameworks into a shared environment that enables secure and transparent data sharing. It provides a reliable platform for collaboration between public and private partners. By supporting the Digital Europe strategy and EU data legislation, including the Data Governance Act and the Data Act, CEADS fosters innovation, strengthens the data economy, and delivers societal value across the sector.
Research approach
CEADS follows a multi-actor and iterative approach, structured around three consecutive MVP cycles. Each cycle involves co-design, implementation, testing, and evaluation together with relevant stakeholders. Eight core use cases form the foundation, while additional cases are integrated through open calls. The work packages focus on technical building blocks, governance and business models, and ecosystem development. This process enables CEADS to continuously respond to stakeholder needs, evolving standards, and emerging technological developments.
Relevance/Valorization
CEADS demonstrates the added value of secure and cross-border data sharing in the agrifood sector. Through use cases, the project showcases economic, environmental, and societal benefits such as improved performance, transparency, and sustainability. It connects partners across countries and sectors, accelerating collaboration and innovation. By developing an operational governance and business model, CEADS establishes the foundation for a lasting European data space that supports growth and sustainability.
